Known as the "finest eating joint in Texas." Stepping into the Big Texan is like taking a step back to the rowdy late 1800s. Strolling musicians strum "Amarillo By Morning" to create atmosphere. More than 50,000 people from around the world have traveled to Amarillo to take Big Texan up on their famous challenge. Eat the specially cut 72-oz. top sirloin steak, a baked potato, salad, dinner roll and shrimp cocktail in less than an hour--AND IT'S FREE.  More than 8,500 have succeeded in completing the feat and joining the ranks of Big Texan champions. They come from all walks of life. Winners have included an 11-year-old boy and a 69-year-old grandmother.

The Galbraith House is a historic Manor of Time, built 1912 in the spirit of love. Lumber merchant H.W. Galbraith built the home for his wife Kate, handcrafted the interior with beautiful mahogany and more than 40 solid wood doors. Current owners, Darrell and Linda Hanks, transformed the home into a relaxing Bed & Breakfast, complete with seperate carriage house, within walking distance of downtown Amarillo. The Galbraith House is a popular site for weddings and special events and offers planning services.
