Sweetish Hill Bakery & Cafe www.sweetishhill.com, has been an Austin institution for more than thirty years. We prepare our goods in the classic French method with only quality ingredients, time-tested recipes and the utmost care. When available, we bake with ingredients from Texas growers.

There is a reason people have been coming to Sweetish Hill Bakery for 30 years. We start with the best ingredients. We have a saying here, "Taste buds remember."

We use fresh Texas butter, organic wheat from Kansas, Amador Farms lettuce, Alexander Family Farms eggs, Goodflow juices, Anderson & Co. coffee, seasonal vegetables from the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market, and East Poultry natural chicken. We believe ingredients that don't travel great distances and aren't preserved for long periods of time retain more of their flavor and nutrition.

Then we add the skills of our trained cooks and bakers. We fold butter into our croissant, Danish, and puff dough. We scoop, shape, and bake cookies and cakes daily. We slice, dice, and chop ingredients for our soups using chicken and vegetable stocks we made ourselves. We make our own buttercream icings, and mayonnaise (maybe that's why our egg, chicken, and tuna salads cannot be duplicated.)

Handcrafted and handmade in Austin. Quality plant-based oils for their moisturizing properties. All soaps contain base oils of olive, palm, and coconut with vitamin E added as a natural preservative. All  soaps include one or more extra moisturizing super-fatting oils (e.g. cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, castor oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, jojoba oil and/or shea butter). Skin will feel clean, smooth, and soft after using Austin soap - no lotion needed. No animal fat is used in these handmade, herbal soaps and natural glycerin is not extracted - unlike commercial soaps. All Austin soaps are pH tested and we do not test on animals- onlyy willingly tested by friends and family! Carlyn Galerie is owned and operated by a mother-daughter team, serving Dallas since 1989.  A nationally recognized store, the contemporary crafts featured are made from glass, fiber, clay, metals and jewelery. The shop was named "top blown glass gallery" in D Magazine for its glass-art. Blown, fused, lampworked and cast glass are all featured at Carlyn Galerie. Jewelery from artists all over the country is displayed, made from freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones and mixed metals. Wearable art is a new feature in the shop with work by different fiber artists. Carlyn Galerie hosts five or six exhibitions every year and helps raise money for local charities.
