Meet Michael Williams

Michael Williams is the Railroad Commissioner of Texas. You might not have heard a lot about him, but you are about to hear a lot more. He will be introducing Sen. John McCain Thursday night at the Republican National Convention. He is an impressive guy and you will be able to read all about him in the next print issue of Texas Magazine coming out in November. A few years ago I was volunteering at my son's high school during lunchtime. I noticed a group of kids in the corner, maybe about 20 or so. They were dressed head to toe in black. Many had their hair dyed black. Some even had white makeup on their face like a mime who never quite got finished getting dressed. They didn't seem very happy and they had certainly pulled away from the rest of the groups in high school and isolated themselves even during lunch. They didn't approve of the rest. They had found their own way and they were not going to be a part of the mainstream.
