Mexican National José Medellín, a condemned murderer and rapist was executed by lethal injection on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m. CDT (10:57 p.m. EDT) according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Despite a last-ditch appeal pitting President Bush against Governor Rick Perry in a dispute over federal and state authorities and international treaties regarding detained foriegners from decades ago.
